House of Toast Softball Team Burns Up The Field!
-by John Mitchell (Alpharetta Gazette)

When looking at the picture that
accompanies this article you may be wondering, "Why are
the people in the picture smiling so brightly?" Some
potential answers to your question might be:
They are enjoying the 'cool' that
a 85 degree 65 percent humidity night brings.
They were looking at a large
boiling cauldron filled with carrots, celery, and
potatoes and thinking, "That looks quite refreshing!"
They hold the profound knowledge
to the secret of life AND they all received a fortune
cookie fortune that read, "You and eleven of your
closest friends will inherit the spoils of the Earth."
While all of the aforementioned
were good guesses they were all wrong! The people in the
picture were smiling because they are the 2007 House of
Toast playoff bound softball team.
That's right! After a well fought,
rain soaked, summer softball league the House of Toast
team rose up to smite down several Goliaths (i.e.
weather, injury, and old age) to claw their way into the
playoffs. The looks that you see on their faces is
satisfaction combined with accomplishment (then baked at
90 plus degree temperatures for one hour) added to the
knowledge that they made the playoffs in a league where
the odds were stacked against them from the start of the
season.
Led by the masterful coaching of Andy 'The Blur' Mills
this team overcame great obstacles to represent the
House of Toast organization in the Alpharetta Parks
Department softball league. The grasp that the House of
Toast team has on the hearts of the masses is equivalent
to the unique smell of burnt toast - unmistakable.
Top tier marketing firm Kindred
Keziah (known for working with clients such as
Coca-Cola, Toyota, and Royal Caribbean) heavily
discounted their usual rate in order to develop a
marketing campaign specifically for the company. Keziah
captured the winning feeling of any sports team by
championing the House of Toast softball team with the
slogan: "Toast with Toast!" 'Effective but simple' are
words that can be used to describe both the marketing
slogan created by Keziah and the players on the House of
Toast team.
Besides capturing the attention of
Kindred Keziah this group of 'People's Champions' were
affectionately cheered on by their fans with cheers of
"You're Toast!" (which served both as inspiration and
insult) and the chant "We had humble beginnings and we
don't like to boast / But you better watch out or you'll
be Toast!"
On game nights the faithful House
of Toast fans were often distinguished from other fans
by their unique House of Toast T-shirts, tracksuits, and
BBQ aprons (the prohibitive fan favorite) while packing
the stands in support of their team. We encourage all
fans to come out to support the House of Toast team as
they continue to participate in the Alpharetta League
softball games by cheering these faithful players on to
victory.
